Mudpies for Children
Mudpies Workshops
Pottery workshops
Its our belief that children should not be limited in finding their potential. When they are open to new ideas and experiences, they can create ANYTHING in their lives. Clay is a wonderful tactile medium that many children have never experienced before. Its three dimensional nature forces them to think about structure, shapes and forms.
At Fried Mudd Studio, the young artists can experiment with a variety of building techniques while they learn to think about their ideas. There is something magical about children when they immerse themselves into creativity. Once a child learns to express and execute their personal visions in clay, they can become empowered in ways that go beyond the walls of the studio or classroom. Have fun stimulating the imagination and learning a range of techniques including hand building and the potters wheel.
MUDPIES Pottery Workshops for Children of all Ages
This clay workshop is a wonderful way to develop crafts for kids. Blue Card Tutor Cathy Spencer has 35 years experience in clay. Her passion for kids art makes her a favourite among the ‘little mudpies’ at her workshops.
This workshop is about kids having fun getting muddy together! Come alone and met new friends or bring your gang in for a unique experience. We call clay the great equalizer, everyone has fun, no matter what their skill level. Children and teenagers are encouraged to create anything they wish; animals, plaques, bowls, the possibilities are endless!
Two hours of creating a masterpiece, includes clay, glazes and time on the potters wheel. The children will learn about glazes, types of firings and hand building techniques as well as time on the potters wheel.

What can I say that hasn’t, probably, already been said? Cathy is just great. She has tons of patience, is in no rush, helps you when you are stuck and gets you out of trouble when you have given your bathing beauty ET’s face (ET was cute but still…). Don’t get me wrong, she doesn’t do your sculpture! You do it yourself but she will guide you and put you in the right direction! Her studio is just gorgeous (you think that you have arrived in Tuscany or even better…Provence in the south of France!) That really helps you get into the creative mood. I have fallen in love with her place when I first visited 2 years ago and have been waiting to be free from work so that I could join. I sent my wife first (twice) as she loves that sort of relaxation therapy and she was both times so happy that I couldn’t wait to join and make my own ‘Bathing Beauty’. I can’t wait to get her back home once fired (I say cooked but apparently it’s not the right term?). So…an extra huge Thank you to you Cathy for so much knowledge, skills and a funny day. And I promise…next time I will spend less time perfecting the shape of some very important parts. Hopefully we will meet again soonish. (I know that you are getting so popular that I will have to book 12 months in advance).
